Church History

In 1948…

The doors opened, for the first time, to a brand new sanctuary. The rapidly growing church soon petitioned to become autonomous (self supporting), and stepped out on its own in April of 1950. By 1957, they had outgrown their original building, and in June of 1957, they completed and moved into a beautiful colonial style brick structure. Once again, the church continued to grow, numerically and spiritually, and on May 7th, 1995, the sanctuary we worship in today was completed.

Going Forward…

We are a Bible believing, Baptist Church. Our number one goal is to reach as many as we can with the Truth of God’s Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a great burden for those who do not know Jesus, because eternity only has 2 choices, Heaven or Hell. The Bible tells us in Matthew 16:26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

We intend to reach our goal through the ministries of weekly prayer and Bible studies, our nursing home ministry, bus routes, music ministry, our large missions outreach, deaf ministry, youth and children’s ministries, and the teaching and preaching of God’s Word.

There are many sincere prayer warriors in our church. We have faithful men and women who teach in a local nursing home every Sunday. We have dedicated men who pick up those who need a ride to services. We have faithful church members working with our young people and children. We support many foreign missionaries. We have interpreters who faithfully minister to our deaf members. We have outstanding teachers in our children’s church ministry and Awana club. We are led by our Pastor Sean Jacobs, who assumed the position November 1st, 2020 and faithfully teaches the Word of God each week.

God has blessed our church abundantly throughout the many years of its existence. He has provided us with many talented and gifted people who work tirelessly to serve the Lord and the people of Thomasville. We praise His name and thank Him for all He has done. Without Him, none of this would have been possible, but with Him, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13
Our doors are open to you:

At East Side, you will find a group of loving, compassionate, God fearing people who will treat you with respect and honesty. Would you consider visiting one our scheduled services? We would love to show you around our facilities, and answer any questions you might have. We are prepared to serve you and your family; from the nursery to the eldest of adulthood.
