FAQs

What are Sunday Services like?
They are like family gatherings where everyone is welcome to experience and celebrate God’s glory and His grace shown to us. We do this by singing, praying, listening to a Bible sermon, and just spending time together. Our main worship service starts at 10:45am and ends around 12:00pm, with childrens ministry for your .  This is usually the service that most visitors attend.

Other Sunday Events:

  • Sunday Life Groups:  9:45am (separated according to the stage of life you and your children are in)
  • Sunday Evening family service:  6:00pm  (this is a more casual family time, to worship, pray for each other, and to be challenged from God’s Word)

Where should I park?
The best place for a guest to park is in the Colton Ave parking lot.  On Sunday mornings a greeter will meet you outside, and direct you to enter in through the large white column doors and then an usher will direct you and your family to a comfortable place to sit.

What are the sermons like?
Most Sundays you will hear an expository sermon, which means the preacher chooses a book or passage of the Bible and preaches through it verse by verse, making the main point of the text the main point of the sermon. Our series, No Ordinary Man:  a walk through the Gospels, or James: a faith that work is a good example of expository preaching. Occasionally, you will hear a topical sermon, which means the preacher chooses a specific topic first and then finds and preaches a passage that fits that topic.

Both expository and topical sermons have strengths and weaknesses. However, we emphasize expository sermons for three main reasons. First, we believe they challenge us to know and obey parts of the Bible we might otherwise ignore. Second, they allow God to choose the agenda rather than the preacher. Third, they help us read and obey the Bible as a book with a progressive storyline that reveals God’s glory and grace in Christ rather than a collection of verses that we pick through just to find our favorites.

How should I dress for Sunday Mornings?
Our regular attenders come in a variety of clothing styles, some dressy and some casual. No matter how you come, you will be accepted and loved at East Side.

What is your music like?
We use a variety of Gospel Centered Music in our services. Most would probably consider us to be a mix of conservative and contemporary music styles.  We have energetic and worshipful music services with a variety of songs that draw all the attention to our God. Using the Bible, Personal Testimonies, Choir Specials, Special Groups, and Modern Technology; we seek to honor God in our Music services, so that you and your family will be ready for the teaching and preaching of the Word of God.
